We use Xylitol which is a naturally occurring sweetener, extracted from any woody fibrous plant material. Xylitol is just as sweet as regular sugar (sucrose), but with about 33 per cent fewer calories! This makes the product suitable for diabetics, as it helps stabilize blood sugar levels.

Xylitol is also great for your teeth often used in toothpastes!

We’ve worked hard to make the product sugar free and tasty at the same time, but we think we’ve cracked it!

Yes. The Muslim Consumer Group has certified it to be halal. It does have “sugar alcohol” but this does not mean alcohol as we often think of it (that is ethanol). Xylitol is called a sugar alcohol because of its chemical structure and does not have any intoxicating effects or act like the alcohol in drinks.

Gelato is made with a custard base which has fewer or no eggs, a higher proportion of milk and a lower proportion of cream. It is then churned for a longer time to add air particles into it. This creates a denser consistency than ice cream.

Regular ice cream is made from a mixture of rich double cream, milk, sugar and eggs. This is then frozen while being churned. In commercial ice­cream making, stabilizers such as plant gums are usually added and the mixture is pasteurized and homogenized.

Protein ice cream is the leanest of the three. The natural milk in the ice cream is spun to produce whey isolate, which is a pure form of protein. This is then re­added to the ice cream to boost the carbohydrate uptake and increase the amount of protein. And since Whey2go has perfected the process, there is no sugar added.
